Simon has spent many years in and around the arts. He has studied painting, worked as a graphic designer, helped raise two wonderful children and travelled. He has worked with clay, leather, paint, fabrics: making art, practical objects and wearables. He completed a short course on metalworking at the Jam Factory in 2017 and developed a jewellery practice, then undertook a mentorship with Julie Blyfield in 2021 before transitioning (or returning) to sculpture.
With an enduring interest in the human condition, and responding to social matters, Simon is pursuing a contemporary practice, using a range of skills and life lessons to make work.
He lives in Goolwa in South Australia with a cantankerous she-devil cat called Millie (she’s really just a softie).
An eight-minute walk to the beach means he can hear the roar of the Southern Ocean while he works.
