Biography

In the early 2000’s Simon qualified as a graphic designer and spent many years working as a designer and website builder. At the same time he studied painting at Adelaide Central School of Arts and life drawing in North Adelaide. In 2016 he took a short course in silversmithing at the Jam Factory, subsequently making wearables and becoming a contributing artist to Jam Factory and Zu design, among others.

He has always made things, holding a solo show in 1998 exhibiting early paintings and sculpture. His work at the time included materials such as clay, fabrics, leather and salvaged materials.

A desire to develop his own artistic voice led Simon to begin making sculpture again, holding his second solo show (Lonely Diamond in 2021).

In 2024 he won the Urunga Small Sculpture Prize and was a finalist in the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize.

Simon is represented by BMG Art.
