Caraconicles

Caraconicles

The attack on Ukraine, and the consequent movement of peoples away from the war zone made me think about refugees and migration.

All life needs to escape threats or move towards better conditions. And so I felt it important not to single out humans. It is not just people that escape war zones and other threats: – Serengeti migrations, geese in winter, schools of fish to name a few – all seeking food or escaping predators.

Caraconicles are a device, imaginary figures travelling, like a family unit, a group of beings all moving with the same purpose.

Migration is unsettling. It is stressful, with uncertainty and the unknown at it’s heart, and many potential outcomes. And yet there is a solidarity, a singular purpose, a unity, and there may be comfort and safety in that. And so there is hope.
